Review – Dark Souls III (PS4)

In the world of Dark Souls III, death is imminent; you will die countless times to hundreds of different adversaries. Dark Souls III does not only mark the end of many players’ in-game lives, but it also marks the death of the franchise. Series director Hidetaka Miyazaki has stated that Dark Souls is over, and developer From Software has already moved onto a brand new IP.

Thankfully, Dark Souls III ends the series on an excellent note, combining elements from all the previous games and reinforces them to a mere shine, while also ending the story on a satisfying note.

Review – Ratchet & Clank (2016)

The 3D platforming genre has seen better days, with the PlayStation 2 being home to many great series. Sly Cooper, Jak and Daxter, Crash Bandicoot, and, of course, Ratchet & Clank were huge platforming series back in the day. Although the genre has grown stagnant over the past decade, Insomniac Games are taking another crack at the genre with the release of Ratchet & Clank, a remake of the first game, as well as the upcoming movie Ratchet & Clank.

Remakes and HD remasters have been prevalent the past few years, some being huge successes (Metal Gear Solid HD Collection) and some being major flops (Silent Hill HD Collection). But Ratchet & Clank is something more than that; it is a complete reimagining of the first game, and a successful one at that.
