One of the major aspects of No Man’s Sky is naming planets, plants, and animals; giving the players the unique feeling of discovering a brand new life form. However, players on the No Man’s Sky subreddit have been reporting that some of their plant and animal discoveries have been deleted.
Reddit user Dark_Nexis created a thread in the subreddit saying that after returning to his home solar system, he discovered that all of the plants and animals he had named in that solar system had been deleted, and reverted to its pre-discovered state. Planets and solar systems were not affected by the wipe, still stating that Dark_Nexis discovered them.
The Reddit thread now has over 1,500 upvotes and 500 comments, with users stating that their discoveries were also being deleted. Going through the comments, it seems the issue is far more prevalent on PlayStation 4, with only some PC players reporting the problem.
No Man’s Sky developer Hello Games has yet to comment on the disappearing discoveries.
No Man’s Sky is available for PC and PlayStation 4; You can read The Bonus Level’s review here.
The naming of planets, animals, and plants was one of the few things I enjoyed about No Man’s Sky, to see that your discoveries might not be permanent in the universe is incredibly disheartening. I already wasn’t too big on the game, but now I’m certain I won’t be returning.
