Bethesda Game Studios – the developers behind the critically acclaimed Fallout and Elder Scrolls series – have put Sony on blast, saying that Sony is holding back mod support for Fallout 4 and the upcoming Skyrim Special Edition.
In a blog post on their website, Bethesda stated that, “we regret to say that while we have long been ready to offer mod support on PlayStation 4, Sony has informed us they will not approve user mods the way they should work: where users can do anything they want for either Fallout 4 or Skyrim Special Edition.
“[U]ntil Sony will allow us to offer proper mod support for PS4, that content for Fallout 4 and Skyrim on PlayStation 4 will not be available.”
Fallout 4 has had mod support on both Xbox One and PC for months now; mod support went into beta on PlayStation 4 in June, and was suppose to release in July.
Sony seems to have been making many poor decisions recently; not allowing mod support, the half-baked PlayStation 4 Pro reveal, and raising the price of PlayStation Plus has all made it seem like Sony is starting to forget about their user base, and make decisions because they feel like they’re the top dog. I hope Sony will reconsider mod support, especially after Bethesda publicly calling them out.
